  • Family From San Jose + a Little Insparation From Steve Jobs

I’ve been spending time trying to improve my photography this year and all the articles about Steve Jobs made me start thinking about my work even more. It is often mentioned how Steve Jobs was all about simplifying products and constantly looking for what he could leave out. This way of thinking is really inspiring to me because with family photography the most important thing for me to capture is moments that show personality and love, everything else is really pretty secondary.

The simplicity of the session really allows you to get a glimpse of the families awesome personality and love. All we did was throw a nice neutral colored comforter on a bed and opening up a window so a little natural sun light can come in. We got so many special moments captured from our session that the family can keep forever.

Tractor, Orchard, Missoni Sweaters Vests, & an Awesome Family

Last week I had a family photo session at the Saratoga Heritage Orchard. I love this location especialy for boys because It’s got this tractor that has been there forever which is sunk into the ground a little bit. the tractor is a really cool orange yellow color and has some really amazing textures. The orchard has some really beautiful rows of fruit trees that turn colors in the fall and blossoms beautifully in the spring. It is one of those spots where you drive by all the time but never really think it could work for a session but it does.

100 Days Photo Session in San Jose.

Here is a few photos from a 100 days old photo session I did a month or two ago.

The first half of the session we used a white background which was set up in the living room. The second half we did these super cute more natural shots of them being a really sweet family.

Note: This hybrid home studio/natural shoot is available only for deluxe and standard packages.

First Year Birthday Party At Kingfish Restaurant – San Mateo

A few weeks ago I shot photos for a little boys first birthday party. I was so impressed by all the hard work that went into making this party such a memorable and exciting experience for all the kids as well as the adults. They had beautiful cakes, crazy cute mini macaroons and cake pops that were so perfect, it was sad to see them get devoured. There were balloons, jars of candy for the kids, and great food (and wine for the adults).   Let’s just be honest, the first birthday party is really about parents celebrating that they survived the first year :)

Mothers Day Photos With A Boy Crazy About Trains.

These Photographs were a surprise mothers day present. I absolutely love father/son photo sessions. you can tell this 3 year old idolized his dad. When the sun went down he was so sad because he wanted to continue playing.

He tried to put on his jacket and got stuck.

    Playing trains with Grandpa

This little guy reminded me so much of my older brother when he was young. He had to have the tracks lay perfectly, completely consumed by his new tracks he got from the wooden horse earlier in the day

    The Slavick’s Park Day Portraits

    I Love This Kid.

Josef gets the award for being one of the most fun kids to photograph. I seriously LOVE this guy!
The first picture in the slide show was the first frame I snapped. I said “hey buddy, you ready to take pictures” he immediately jumped into a pose. There was no need to warm him up to the idea of a camera.

We did a photo session about a year and a half ago and was so excited to hear I was able to photograph him some more! Like all the park day photo sessions I did, I wished I had more than 15 minuts to hang out and make pictures.

Tom & Kelly, you guys are so real & transparent in such a good way. Seriously… I love your family and even more so for coming in sharks gear!
