A New Season

Many of you have probably realized I’ve pretty much disappeared and have not been advertising or posting many photo sessions lately.

I started Ezra Gordon Photography 7 years ago and after an amazing run, I am now officially closing the doors and not booking any more photo sessions.

A few months back I took a job as a creative director at WestGate Church. Like any large decisions theres a lot of factors that went into the decision making process but heres a few reasons why I made the decision I did. The first being that I’m passionate about visual communication and want to be at the convergence of photography, graphic design, video & all those fun visual mediums and focus less on the less glamorous aspects of having your own business. The second is that, I am a better person around people. Having my own business for 7 years was a huge blessing but also lonely at times when locked in a room editing photos all day away from people. And the last HUGE reason, is that I want to focus on my family instead of looking at awesome families through the lens of my camera. With my wife in school with insane hours I needed to be able to separate work from home life and be the husband I want to be.

I feel so blessed to have had such an amazing business and the best clients in the world. when I first started I could never have dreamed of having over 200 photoshoots a year. I just want to say the biggest most sincere thankyou to all of you who chose me to be your families photographer.

November & December {Booked Up)

I’ve decided to close my calendar until the end of the year to focus on maintaining the quality of my work and service. I still have limited availability in january but it is going to fill up pretty fast as well.

Editing Portraits

Editing Portraits

I just found some footage I shot while editing a session a few months back and decided to speed it up and post it. Since I set my camera up next to my computer there are reflections and the colors are all off but it is still fun.

Swinging Through The Orchard

Swinging Through The Orchard

One of my favorite photo session locations is the orchard next to the Saratoga Library. It’s often a dusty experience but the images always turn out awesome. I think it could be the secret farmer in me or maybe that orchards provide low hanging branches and a lot of shade, whatever it is I like it : ) Family Photos at the Saratoga Library Orchard

Eames and Vision

Eames and Vision

My wife and I were watching this documentary called Eames: The Architect and The Painter. During the movie my wife made a comment about how their designs and home did not look dated or old. The idea of things maintaining their beauty really hit me. I believe that for artwork to not look dated, the technology or technique should not be the primary story. We will look back at the Instagram filters ten years from now and laugh about how we took pretty poor photographs and added a filter and called it AWESOME. Don’t miss understand me, I love Instagram, I just don’t think the photographs we take with the app will be something we cherish for a lifetime unless the subject matter is something beautiful and important. We can often get distracted by all the “COOL” stuff that is available to us and loose track of what really is important.

What lasts is a unique vision or thumb print that no technology can mass produce.

What is the SanDisk Memory Vault?

What is the SanDisk Memory Vault?

I’ve been searching for a safer, longer lasting solution of delivering the digital files that people purchase or years and have found it. The San Disk memory vault is awesome and a great solution for your photographs.

Print Longevity

Print Longevity

I’ve found A big part of being an artist is truly understanding the different materials and mastering the technical, so it does not get in the way of the creative. Photographers often sell themselves using the line “You need photos to keep those memories vivid 80 years from now” but then print on paper that will fade a huge amount just a few years later.

Been doing tons of research on different papers, framing and I’ve decided that its just not worth saving a few bucks on cheap paper, printing, and framing.
